Acne scars can be as damaging to a person’s confidence as active acne. At Skin Alert we understand this and we are here to help.
Acne scars have many different forms, and depending on their type and how long they have been present, we have various treatment options to address them. Several treatments are required and the aim is to soften and reduce the appearance of the scarring.
If you would like more information on how we can help you, book in today for a complimentary consultation with one of our therapists. In some cases a Medicare rebate may apply.
Treatment options for acne scarring
When a patient comes to the clinic for acne scarring treatment, we first want to make sure there is no current acne. Once any active acne has been addressed, we have many treatment options for acne scarring. Usually you will be given a treatment regime consisting of a combination of different treatments.
These treatments will be designed to improve the appearance of acne. This may be done by stimulating new collagen production to even out skin texture, as well as laser or IPL to help with red or brown scarring. As all cases are unique, we ask you to come in for a consultation so we can advise you on the best way to approach your acne scarring treatment.
Our popular scarring treatments
Skin Needling: Our Dermastamp device works by stimulating new collagen to even out the appearance of scarring
Fractional Laser: This laser stimulates collagen and tightens the skin to improve the appearance of scarring
Ablative Laser: Full resurfacing laser can help to fade scar markings on the skin, as well as blend in the edges of deeper scarring
IPL: Our market leading IPL device can be used to reduce the appearance of brown or red scarring
Non-ablative Laser: Our Fotona laser can be used to improve the appearance of red scars, and mildly improve collagen production to reduce the appearance of scarring
Microdermabrasion and Peels: These exfoliating treatments may be combined into your regime to assist with improving your acne scarring
During the consultation we will grade the severity of your scarring and then be able to devise a complete product and treatment regime. In many cases the best outcome of scarring treatment is to improve the appearance of the scars to some degree. Most scars will never completely fade, it is almost impossible to make scarred skin look like 'normal' skin again.
